为豆科植物背扁黄芪的干燥成熟种子。秋末冬初果实成熟尚未开裂时采割植株，晒干，打下种子，除去杂质，晒干。

【性味】 味甘，性温。

略呈肾形而稍扁，表面光滑，褐绿色或灰褐色，边缘一侧微凹处具圆形种脐。质坚硬，不易破碎。子叶2,淡黄色，胚根弯曲，无臭，味淡，嚼之有豆腥味。
