化橘红概述(化痰理气 健胃消食)
为芸香科植物化州柚或柚的未成熟或近成熟的干燥外层果皮。前者习称“毛橘红”，后者习称 “光七爪”“光五爪”。夏季果实未成熟时采收，置沸水中略烫后，将果皮割成5或7瓣，除去果瓤及部分中果皮，压制成形，干燥。《纲目拾遗》记载：“主痰症，消油腻、谷食积，醒酒，宽中，解蟹毒。”

化橘红性状
【性味】 味辛、苦，性温。
【归经】 归肺、脾经。
干燥的外果皮，呈对折的七角，六角或五角星形，展开后直径13～20厘米，厚2～3毫米。化州柚的外皮黄色或黄绿色，密布毛茸，有皱纹及小凹点，多作成七角，习称"黄七爪"、"绿七爪"；柚的外皮黄棕色，光而无毛茸，亦有皱纹及小凹点，多成五角形，习称"大五爪"；加工为六角形者，称"六爪红"，单片呈柳叶状者，习称"尖化红"，或称"柳叶橘红"。内表面多为黄白色，有脉络纹。质脆，易折断，断面不齐，外侧有一列不整齐的油点，内侧黄白色。气微香，味苦。
